As part of Sustainable Backyards month run by Envirohub, we were thrilled to support Louise (Nikau Valley) and Jemma (The Eastern Field) to hold a seed saving workshop.

The workshop was suitable for everyone from beginners to experienced gardeners and was well attended, nearly selling out the 20 available spots. Participants gained an understanding of the importance of seed saving, planning and planting for seed saving, and harvesting and cleaning seed for storage. They also had the opportunity to choose and process a variety of seed from the host garden to take home with them.

The feedback was great and there is even talk of an encore so keep an eye out for details on that!
